Anatomy of Movement Immersion

8-week interactive online course + Weekend Immersion

Oct - Dec 2026

Bring your understanding of your bones and joints to life with this delightful and fascinating anatomy course. Madeleine Shen Lopez is a masterful teacher who will illuminate your understanding of bodies in motion. In this training we’ll zoom into and out of all the major joints in the body to get a better understanding of how the collaboration of these joints allows for efficient dynamic movement patterns, not only in athletic contexts, but in daily life as well. The goal is to empower you with an experience of anatomy that's alive with curiosty, while training your body for sustainability, fluidity, and the joy of movement.

This training is perfect for yoga keeners and teachers, movement enthusiasts of all kinds, body therapists, personal trainers and coaches!

Program Structure + Dates

This 20-hour training begins with a course of 8 online classes where we focus on a specific part of the body each week. The online classes will be primarily lecture-based with some embodied experimentation. We will spotlight yoga poses, gym exercises and common daily activities, using these as practice material between classes.

The training will culminate with a weekend immersion of movement and application, where we’ll really bring the anatomy to life through locomotion exercises, yoga poses, and even some weight lifting. For the immersion, you have the option to join in person at our studio or online from home. There will be plenty of time for all of your questions + curiosities to be addressed!

MEET THE TEACHER, MADELEINE SHEN-LOPEZ

Madeleine is a body researcher and educator, a certified Axis Syllabus teacher, a doctor of chiropractic, crafter, cafe co-owner, and artist. She lives a double life in a small volcanic town in Patagonia, Argentina and in the big jungle city Toronto, Canada. She is curious about how we become intimate with our anatomies and their movement, how we engage with agency and power over our bodies, and how we connect our bodies with others. She looks to expand her learning and teaching through curiosity, which is her main pedagogical tool.

She has had the pleasure of teaching embodied anatomy and movement classes, both online and in person, independently, and as a guest teacher at The Branches, SpiritLoft, and Cornerstone Studio. She has taught at Axis Syllabus intensives in Brazil, and is the co-founder of MADACA, a 2-headed monster made up of Madeleine and her collaborator Camila Seeger. MADACA runs the CONTINUED INTEGRATION series, which combines theory and embodiment practices as a way of to deepen learning and to commune intimately with one's body. Her approach to teaching anatomy in the context of yoga combines her experience as a yoga practitioner and dancer, her studies of the Axis Syllabus, and her training as a chiropractor, to center safety, discovery and consent while understanding the body as a whole in all its complexity
